At Subtext, your privacy isn't just a feature—it's our foundation. All your evidence, screenshots, and analysis results stay on YOUR device. We never upload your conversations to external servers. Period.

1. Information We Collect

Local Data (stays on your device):

  • Screenshots and images you upload for analysis
  • Analysis results and toxicity scores
  • Cases and dossiers you create
  • Notes and journal entries
  • App preferences and settings

Information we may collect:

  • Anonymous usage analytics (crash reports, general app usage)
  • Purchase/subscription information through Apple
  • Email address if you contact support or join our waitlist

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the Subtext app experience
  • To process your subscription through Apple's payment system
  • To respond to your support requests
  • To send you updates if you've joined our waitlist (you can unsubscribe anytime)

3. AI Analysis

When you submit screenshots for analysis, the content is processed by our AI model to detect patterns. This processing happens in real-time and we do not store your screenshots on our servers. The analysis results are stored locally on your device only.

4. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information only:

  • With Apple for subscription processing
  • With error tracking services (anonymized crash data)
  • If required by law or to protect our legal rights

5. Data Security

Your data is stored locally on your device using encrypted SQLite storage. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect any data that does pass through our servers (like waitlist emails).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete all your data at any time using the "Destroy Evidence Stash" feature in Settings
  • Export your data from the app
  • Request information about what data we have (contact us)
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

7. Children's Privacy

Subtext is not intended for users under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 17.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
